In the story “Born Worker” by Gary Soto is about a boy named Jose and his cousin named Arnie. Arnie is really scared about getting in trouble by adults. On page 48 paragraph 2 Arnie says “We better get out of here, they’re going to blame us!” This is an action that Arnie was saying and doing when Mr.Clemens fell into the pool and got hit. He was afraid that he would get in trouble for something that he didn’t cause. Arnie doesn’t want to get in trouble so he just runs away. This evidence reveals that Arnie doesn’t want to take the blame for something he didn’t do. This evidence supports the claim because it i saying that Arnie is scared because he thinks he is going to get in trouble.
Arnie likes to think about how he could get money. On page 41 paragraph 6 Arnie say’s “Got an idea, something that”ll make us money.” This is a thought, Arnie is thinking that he should get a job by “helping” his cousin so they both could get money. This evidence reveals that Arnie thinks about jobs that would make him money. Even though he is rich he still wants to get more money and help his cousin get money. This evidence supports the claim because it is saying that he usually only thinks about money and how to get it.
Arnie believes that he doesn’t look Mexican, he believes that people look at him and think that he is from a different culture. On page 47 paragraph 4 “When I lived in France, people thought that I could be Portuguese or maybe Armenian never Mexican” said Arnie. This a physical appearance on how he looks he is thinking that he doesn’t look Mexican. This is also meaning that he isn’t hard working because Arnie asked Jose if he peeled and Jose said he didn’t. Jose doesn’t peel because he is use to it and Arnie does peel because he isn’t that hard working like Jose. This evidence reveals that he thought that people looked at him and thought that he was from another culture. This evidence supports the claim because Arnie believed people looked at him and thought that he wasn’t Mexican.
