"Girl on Fire" By Alicia Keys Song Analysis

“Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys is a song to help inspire people to overcome challenges. She mainly wrote this song as an example of women’s empowerment and to celebrate and acknowledge women. Alicia keys is a very humble, caring and nice person and she expresses those character traits very well in this song. I chose this song because it is very inspiring and it gives me a lot of motivation.
The artist uses the figurative language like simile in her song. The line “Hotter than a fantasy, lonely like a highway”. This line compared the words lonely and highway by using like. This line in her song is is describing how people can see you on the outside but not know how you feel on the inside
Another way she uses figurative language is with metaphor. Which is the line when she said “girl on fire”. She compared girl and fire without using like or as. When she said this line she meant girls are powerful.
Alicia keys also uses the figurative language personification. She uses ity in the line ¨But she knows she can fly away¨. Humans can't fly away. When she said this she was trying to express how she was going to get away from the pain and how she knows It will all disappear eventually.
In conclusion, the song “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys has many examples of figurative language. Not only that but her message through her song is very empowering and inspiring to women and everyone. Her song is also very motivational.
